Superb Fairy-wrens are found south of the Tropic of Capricorn throughout eastern Australia and Tasmania to the south-eastern corner of South Australia. They feed on insects and other small arthropods.
The males are striking in their breeding plumage of rich blues and black. They go courting, carrying a yellow flower to attract the ladies.
