The musk lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna didimus) is a vibrant, fast-flying parrot native to Tasmania and southeastern Australia. This subspecies is easily recognized by its bright green plumage, vivid red crown, and brush-tipped tongue adapted for sipping nectar from flowering eucalypts. In Tasmania, musk lorikeets are often seen in noisy flocks, darting through forests and urban gardens in search of blossoms - especially during peak flowering seasons. Their remarkable memory for bloom cycles allows them to return to the same trees year after year, making them both reliable pollinators and charismatic seasonal visitors.
